8oz Raw African Black Soap Paste - Vegan Face & Body Cleanser
This is not the big family-size jar that you share with the whole family. This is the little jar you hide in the back of the bathroom cabinet and keep all to yourself.
Our 8oz Raw African Black Soap Paste has a thick, scoopable texture that turns into rich lather when you add water. Use a little for your face, work up more for your body, or mix a separate diluted batch for the shower. You control the consistency, which is part of the fun—and also why this jar tends to last longer than people expect.
Made with coconut oil, palm kernel oil, shea butter tree bark, palm leaves, banana tree bark and leaves, plantains, plantain skin ash, ground cocoa pods, and purified water, this vegan cleanser contains no added fragrance or artificial color. Its deep color, earthy aroma, and natural variation come from the traditional plant ingredients doing what they do.
Brought to you by Mama Aswan Butters & Oils, a Black-owned, independent business based right here in Dayton, Ohio, this 8oz jar is a smaller-but-mighty option for anyone who wants raw African black soap paste without committing half the bathroom shelf to it.
It is great for personal routines, first-time black soap paste users, travel bags, guest bathrooms, or anyone who wants rich lather on standby without bringing home the family-size jar.
What It Is
Raw African Black Soap Paste is the thick, concentrated version of African black soap.
It has the same plant-based ingredients and cleansing benefits as our Liquid African Black Soap, but the experience is different. The liquid version is already pourable and ready to dispense. The paste comes in a scoopable jar, so you can mix it with as much—or as little—water as you like.
Want a thicker hand-lathered cleanser? Scoop and add a little water.
Want something pourable for the shower? Dilute a portion in a separate bottle.
The paste is basically the choose-your-own-adventure version of black soap.
Who It Is For
Families who want one large multipurpose cleanser
Households tired of running out of soap every other Tuesday
People who prefer a thick, scoopable cleansing texture
Customers who like mixing their cleanser to their preferred consistency
Makeup and sunscreen wearers ready to wash off the day
Vegan and plant-based body-care routines
Face and body cleansing without a shelf full of separate products
Anyone who sees a 8oz jar and immediately feels more secure

What It Helps With
At 8 ounces, this jar gives you enough raw African black soap paste for regular use without taking over the whole bathroom counter. Use it for face washing, shower routines, or to make a small diluted bottle when you want a pourable option—because sometimes your soap needs options too.
Customizing your cleanser
Unlike a ready-poured liquid soap, the paste lets you decide how concentrated or diluted each use feels. Mix only what you need and adjust as you go.
Makeup, sunscreen, and daily buildup
Work a small amount into lather to help wash away complexion products, sunscreen, excess oil, sweat, and the general layer that comes from leaving the house.
Body cleansing without weak lather
The paste builds a rich foam once water gets involved. A small scoop can cover more ground than it looks capable of, so there is no need to dig into the jar like you are serving potato salad.
Cutting down on bathroom clutter
This 8oz jar can cover face washing, body cleansing, and even a small diluted bottle if you like a pourable version. One jar, multiple uses, fewer bottles doing too much on the bathroom shelf.
Why Mama Aswan Is Different

No mystery directions, no miracle promises, and no bathroom full of unanswered questions.
Good body care should come with honest guidance, practical tips, and a little personality. We make traditional products feel approachable, useful, and easy to work into real life.
FAQs
Can I turn African black soap paste into liquid soap?
Yes. Scoop a small amount into a separate bottle, add water, and shake until blended. Start with more water than paste, then adjust slowly. Keep the original jar dry rather than mixing the entire container at once.
Why does my black soap paste look different from the last jar?
Raw African black soap paste can vary in color, texture, and thickness because it is made with natural plant-based ingredients like plantain ash, cocoa pods, and oils. One batch may look darker, softer, thicker, or more textured than another. That is normal. It is raw black soap, not factory-perfect frosting.
Why does the color or texture of my black soap paste vary?
Natural variation is normal. Traditional plant ingredients and plantain skin ash can produce slight differences in color, thickness, and texture from batch to batch. It is raw black soap—not a factory-perfect jar of beige goo trying to look identical forever.
